NDC Parliamentary Reshuffle: Irate NDC Supporters Beat Up Deputy General Secretary

Some irate supporters of the National Democratic Congress on Wednesday, January 25, 2022, assaulted the Deputy General Secretary of the party, Mustapha Gbande at the premise of Radio Tamale.

This follows recent changes in the Minority Caucus in Parliament by the NDC.

The National Executive of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) on Tuesday announced a decision to change the leadership of the Minority caucus in Parliament.

They named Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson as the new leader of the Minority; taking over from Haruna Iddrisu.

Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah has also been named as the new Deputy Minority Chief Whip.

Kwame Agbodza takes over as Chief Whip.

Ahmed Ibrahim, MP for Banda, has been maintained as the First Deputy Minority Chief Whip, while Comfort Doyo Cudjoe-Ghansah, MP for Ada, is the Second Deputy Minority Chief Whip.

This decision has, however, not gone down well with some of the members as they insist Haruna Iddrisu must be maintained as the Minority Leader.

According to a report filed by Alhassan Abdul-Washeed, UTV Northern Regional Correspondent, the youth had warned him not to speak to the recent changes in Parliament but he refused.

Mustapha who was speaking in an interview on UTV further stated that the Deputy General Secretary after addressing the issue on Radio Tamale decided to speak to the angry youth, justifying the party's decision; leading to the assault.
